From total hip replacements to knee replacements, here are 12 celebrities who have undergone one, or more, of the procedures: 

Athletes

Shaquille O'Neal. Former professional basketball player Shaquille O'Neal recently underwent a hip replacement procedure. 

John Elway. Former professional football quarterback John Elway had a knee replacement in 2007 after leading two teams to Super Bowl victory. 

Television and movies

Oprah Winfrey. Famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey underwent two knee replacement surgeries in 2021. 

Steve Carrell. Actor Steve Carrell, known for his starring role in the television series The Office, underwent hip replacement surgery in 2013 after dealing with chronic pain from a hockey injury. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger. Actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent a hip replacement at the age of 55. 

Michael Douglas. Actor Michael Douglas faced permanent knee pain and joint issues following a skiing accident. In 2009, he had a knee replaced to try and fix his pain. 

Jane Fonda. Actress Jane Fonda has had both of her hips and one of her knees replaced over the last 20 years after dealing with osteoporosis. 

Alec Baldwin. Actor Alec Baldwin underwent a total hip replacement in 2018. 

Musicians 

Billy Joel. Singer Billy Joel got a double hip replacement in 2010 at the age of 60. 

Steven Tyler. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler had one of his knees replaced at the age of 65. 

Lionel Richie. Singer Lionel Richie had a hip replacement in 2011 after suffering from chronic hip and knee pain. 

Liza Minnelli. Theater idol and Broadway star Liza Minnelli has had at least one knee and one hip replaced.
