Kamala Harris' record on Medicare

Practice Management

Kamala Harris, vice president and hopeful Democratic presidential nominee, has a history of backing Medicare expansion and coverage, according to a report from NBC News.

Her campaign is in the early stages and hasn't revealed healthcare position statements for the upcoming election, but historically she supported Mr. Biden's efforts to include dental, hearing and vision benefits in Medicare coverage. She has also backed the ACA and Medicaid expansion.

While on the campaign trail in 2019, Ms. Harris posted her "Medicare for All" plan on Medium. The plan differs from Senator Bernie Sanders' plan and includes a version of Medicare covering all Americans, with the option for people to purchase health insurance from private payers, who would be subject to "strict requirements" for lowering costs and expanding services.

Ms. Harris' plan pitched funding the transition by taxing Wall Street trades and transactions, as well as ending foreign tax shelters.
