Average hourly wage for orthopedic surgeons in 28 states


The average hourly wage for orthopedic surgeons varies by more than $150 per hour between Minnesota and West Virginia, the states where orthopedic surgeons have the highest and lowest earnings.

Orthopedic surgeons in West Virginia have an average hourly wage of $117.28, while surgeons in Minnesota bring in an average of $271.85 per hour. The average wage for orthopedic surgeons across the U.S. is $181.85 per hour.

Salary data for orthopedic surgeons is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The agency released updated compensation data April 3 to reflect 2023 information.
