The administrative efficiencies 1 surgeon wants to sharpen in 2024

Orthopedic

Jashan Valjee, DPM, of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics in Bethesda, Md., wants to bolster administrative efficiencies in his practice for 2024.

He shared his plans to streamline tasks outside clinical care with Becker's.

Question: What are your New Year's resolutions for your practice in 2024?

Dr. Jashan Valjee: In 2024, my goal is to improve the efficiency of patient scheduling. With the trend of medical institutions moving to private equity, in combination with stricter insurance guidelines, there’s an increased emphasis on paperwork and improving the bottom line. This places additional stress on physicians to meet high production demands, leading to an increased workload, managing the charting, writing more letters of medical necessity and additional communication with insurance companies. Unfortunately, this results in less time devoted to patient care, which should always be the top priority. In the new year, my personal practice will explore avenues to streamline paperwork, ensuring a consistently full schedule that allows for enough time to see numerous patients and provide them with quality care.
