Golden Valley, Minn.-based Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a bioengineering lab in Eagan, Minn. Jan. 16.

Twin Cities Orthopedics Bioengineering Lab is the first independent facility of its kind in Minnedota and will help physicians and researchers to conduct studies and training, TCO said in a news release. The lab is next door to TCO's sports science lab and has technologies including robotic joint testing and 3D printing.

"In addition to being able to provide bench-to-bedside answers for treating complex sports medicine pathologies in the research portion of the lab, it will also allow surgeons to hone their skills and develop improved surgical procedures in the Bioskills Lab," Robert LaPrade, MD, PhD, a surgeon at TCO, said in the release. "This lab will also provide one of the top opportunities for resident and fellow education in the country."
