Orthopedic Institute breaks ground on 70K-square-foot South Dakota facility

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Orthopedic Institute has started construction on a two-story, 70,000-square-foot building in Tea, S.D., according to an Oct. 19 report from Sioux Falls Business. 

The building will combine clinic and administrative space with advanced image and procedure capabilities, outpatient physical and occupational therapy, and rehabilitation. The building will also include turf space for sports training. 

OI will relocate from its current location at the Avera McKennan Hospital campus in Sioux Falls. OI has about 20 physicians and 250 employees, plus 14 satellite offices. 

Its physicians specialize in complex total joint preservation, reconstruction or replacement procedures, nonsurgical and surgical spine care needs and pain management with non-opioid solutions.

The building is expected to be completed by late 2024 or early 2025.
