Drs. Todd Lanman, Sonia Eden and more: 5 spine surgeons making headlines

From two surgeons debuting an interbody device to another joining a new practice, here are five spine surgeons making the news over the past week:

1. Ali Mesiwala, MD, a neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery, joined Newport Beach, Calif.-based DISC Sports & Spine Center.

2. Sonia Eden, MD, was named interim chair of Detroit-based Wayne State University's neurosurgery department. 

3. Todd Lanman, MD, founder of Lanman Spinal Neurosurgery in Beverly Hills, Calif., was named one of Los Angeles Magazine's top doctors for 2021.

4. Christopher Ames, MD, and Patrick Maloney, MD, performed the first spine surgery with Carlsmed's Aprevo, a patient-specific interbody device for the treatment of adult spinal deformity.
