Specialty Orthopedic Group to launch $30 million expansion, add 115 new jobs

Tupelo, Miss.-based Specialty Orthopedic Group has announced a $30 million expansion project at its Oxford and Starkville, Miss., locations, with a commitment to adding 115 new jobs. 

Following the expansion, the system will have more than 20 surgeons and more than 300 employees, according to a Nov. 19 news release. 

The group broke ground on a new clinic, walk-in urgent care, ASC and physical therapy facility located in Oxford earlier in the spring. The 47,108 square-foot facility will include 28 clinic exam rooms, one procedure room and will be equipped with two digital x-ray systems.

The facility will also include a 17,778 square-foot ASC with four operating rooms and one procedure room, and a 5,158 square-foot physical therapy center. The new Oxford project is expected to open in the summer of 2025.

The system also recently started construction on a new location in Starkville. The 12,715 square-foot facility will feature 16 clinic exam rooms, one procedure room and two digital x-ray systems.

The Starkville facility also includes over 3,000 square feet dedicated to physical therapy and will offer both physical therapy and occupational therapy services. It is expected to open in the spring of 2025. 

Construction is also underway for Specialty Orthopedic Group’s Tupelo, Miss., facility, which will add 8,207 square feet to an existing facility, as well as adding a total of four digital x-ray systems, two procedure rooms and 47 exam rooms.

Upon completion in fall 2025, the Tupelo campus, which houses a clinic,ASC, physical therapy services and urgent care, will be 50,500 square feet.
