Surgeons with Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif., performed the first robotic spine surgery using eCential Robotics' open spine platform with Spineart implants, according to a July 25 news release.
The two companies collaborated to allow cross-functional use of implants and robotic surgery platforms. Providence St. Joseph Hospital is the first clinical institution in the world to have the combined technologies.
"The integration of Spineart's advanced implant system with eCential's open robotic platform will enable us to perform minimally invasive surgeries with high predictability, reproducibility and outcomes," Erick Westbroek, MD, a spine surgeon with Providence said in the release.
