From financial updates and new debuts, here are eight key updates from spine and orthopedic medtech companies since Nov. 13.
1. Three major investors in Smith+Nephew have encouraged the company to consider breaking up parts of its business and spinning off its orthopedics division.
2. The Nevro1 sacroiliac joint fusion system was found to be superior compared to posterolateral and lateral approaches.
3. Medtronic saw $8.4 billion in revenue with gains in its neuroscience portfolio during the second quarter of fiscal year 2025.
4. Bolt Navigation launched the next generation of its spine system.
5. Indianapolis-based OrthoIndy treated the first patients with Theradaptive's OsteoAdapt SP spinal fusion implant as part of an ongoing clinical trial.
6. Frank Phillips, MD, performed the first spine case with Augmedics' new CT-to-fluoroscopy registration method.
7. Orthopedic surgical robot developer Think Surgical has earned clearance from the FDA to use its Tmini miniature robotic system alongside the Freedom Total Knee, Freedom Titan Knee and Freedom Primary PCK Systems from Maxx Orthopedics.
8. Think Surgical also secured a collaboration agreement with Waldemar Link GmbH & Co. to use Tmini with the LinkSymphoKnee.
