Orthopedic surgeons at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, N.D., have performed more than 3,000 surgeries with the Mako robot system, according to an April 15 report by Grand Forks Herald.
A large majority of the robotic hip and knee joint replacements at the surgery center have been performed by Jeremy Gardner, MD, who joined Altru in 2010.
Altru Health System was the first in North Dakota and is still the only organization in the region to provide Mako robotic-assisted surgery.
Approximately two-thirds of Mako surgeries at the health system are knee replacements, and the remaining one-third are hip replacements, the report said.
