Joseph Kavolus, MD, of Lighthouse Surgical Suites in Hollis, N.H., completed the first clinical case with MicroPort Navibot's Skywalker robot.
The debut case was completed Nov. 22, Microport Orthopedics said in a Dec. 1 news release. The SkyWalker robotic system is used for total knee replacements and is used with MicroPort's Evolution medial-pivot total knee system.
"For the first case with a new technology, I was pleasantly surprised at the smooth flow and execution, ease of integration into my workflow and thrilled that the outcome was exceptional," Dr. Kavolus said in the release.
The robot recieved FDA approval in August. SkyWalker will move into a limited market release, and a hip replacement application is expected for 2024.
