India-based Sakra World Hospital is the first in the world to introduce an active robotic knee replacement system, according to a Dec. 15 report from BioSpectrum.
The Cuvis Joint, manufactured by South Korea-based Curexo, has a fully active role in joint replacements, requiring minimal human intervention, the report said.
"This robotic software allows three stage planning: pre-operative plan, plan during the procedure and post-operative plan which shows if the surgery has been done as per the plan and whether the same anatomy has been depicted and perfectly performed," Chandrasekhar P., MD, senior consultant and head of the orthopedics department at Sakra World Hospital said in the report.
