Olympia (Wash.) Orthopaedic Associates acquired a Mako robot to perform partial and total knee and hip replacements, Thurston Talk reports.
What you should know:
1. The practice is offering joint replacements at its ambulatory surgery center.
2. Darrin Trask, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, said only two other ASCs in the state have the robotic technology.
3. The robot uses imaging technology to create a joint model, which ensures implants are placed accurately.
