St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz., recently installed the ExcelsiusGPS Robotic Navigation System for spine surgery, according to ABC affiliate KGUN9.
Neurosurgeon Matthew Wislon, MD, told KGUN9 he performed about nine surgeries with the robot at the hospital.
Developed by Globus Medical, ExcelsiusGPS combines a robotic arm with navigation to improve accuracy in the placement of pedicle screws during spine surgery.
St. Joseph's plans to use the robot for cranial procedures in the future.
