More than 500 community members attended an open house showcasing robotics used in knee, hip, spine and general surgery procedures at the Abrazo Scottsdale Campus in Phoenix, the Paradise Valley Independent reports.
What you should know:
1. The Abrazo Scottsdale Campus' robotic technology includes the Navio Surgical System, Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology, da Vinci Surgical System and O-arm Surgical Imaging System.
2. Nine surgeons who use the robots educated open house attendees about the technology. They spoke about each robot's capabilities and offered hands-on demonstrations during presentations in the operating rooms.
3. The 500-plus attendees included many local students interested in science, math, engineering and technology careers. Young visitors had the opportunity to use a virtual reality simulator.
