St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea (Mich.) hospital opened a new operating room and then completed its first robotic surgery Sept. 4, TheSun-TimesNews.com reports.
What you should know:
1. The hospital built the OR to expand its surgical offerings. The hospital is in the process of constructing an eighth OR, which it expects to open in the spring of 2020.
2. The hospital installed Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci Surgical System.
3. The public can attend an open house Oct. 9 and 10. Community members will learn about robotic surgery and have an opportunity to try the da Vinci system for themselves.
