The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons registry program shared its Shoulder & Elbow Registry (SER) 2024 Annual Report, which includes data compliled from 36,296 submitted patient procedures.
Five notes:
1. Elbow procedure insights drew from 1,544 total procedures including neuroplasty and/or transposition, radial head arthroplasty, removal of implant/hardware removal and total elbow arthroplasty, according to an Oct. 17 news release.
2. Rotator cuff tear was the second largest primary diagnosis of the 19,357 shoulder replacement procedures submitted.
3. The majority of rotator cuff procedures subitted to the registry were done arthroscopically, and 59% included a concurrent subacromial decompression.
4. The annual report saw a 44% increase in submited procedures compared to 2022.
