Boston-based New England Baptist Hospital named Eric Smith, MD, chair of orthopedics and Daniel Ward, MD, chief of arthroplasty.
Dr. Smith has been with NEBH for six years and previously served as chief of arthroplasty and medical director of the hospital's orthopedic specialty practice, according to an Aug. 12 news release shared with Becker's. He succeeds David Mattingly, MD, who will remain the hospital's Berenson-Allen surgeon-in-chief.
Dr. Ward is currently the medical director for co-management- arthroplasty and is medical director of education at NEBH.
"These appointments represent a new leadership team for the orthopedics department and the arthroplasty section," David Passafaro, president of NEBH, said in the release. "Dr. Eric Smith will bring a new perspective to the operation and direction of the department during exciting times for NEBH orthopedics, and Dr. Daniel Ward has long been a strong voice for change, innovation and entrepreneurship from within the arthroplasty section. Both will be welcome additions to our leadership team."
