Keith Meister, MD, performed Tommy John surgery on Matt Brash, a pitcher for the Seattle Mariners.
The procedure repaired the ulnar collateral ligament and installed a brace in Mr. Brash's right elbow, according to a May 10 news release.
Mr. Brash first started experiencing elbow inflammation in spring training and met with Dr. Meister in April.
The team expects Mr. Brash to return to action in approximately 12 months, the release said.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team
