New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery joined the Coalition for Health AI, according to a Jan. 14 LinkedIn post.
The coalition advocates for responsible artificial intelligence use in the medical field, according to its website. Its philosophy on AI model evaluation focuses on developer responsibility, end-user responsibility and monitoring responsibility.
Hospital For Special Surgery has leaned into AI in recent months. In November HSS received support from Schmidt Futures to advance artificial intelligence and machine learning efforts. HSS plans to create the largest curated musculoskeletal data ecosystem and make it available to interdisciplinary researchers.
"I am thrilled to welcome HSS to our growing community of organizations committed to advancing effective and responsible health AI," Brian Anderson, MD, CEO of the Coalition for Health AI, said in the post. "We are driven by the engagement and expertise of our members and the feedback of our broader health ecosystem and the public. We look forward to working together to unlock the potential benefits of AI, on a foundation of trust, safety, and security."
Membership to CHAI is open and includes nearly 3,000 organizations.
