Leadership moves

  • James Voos, MD, head team physician for the Cleveland Browns and the Jack and Mary Herrick Distinguished Chair of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at University Hospitals in Cleveland, has been elected president of the NFL Physicians Society.
  • Sports medicine, exercise and musculoskeletal specialist Richard Weiler, MD, PhD, joined AI Nexus Healthcare's advisory board.

Sports stars undergoing procedures

  • Orthopedic surgeons Harlan Slesnick, MD, and Frantz Lerebours, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Miami Heat player Josh Richardson. 
  • World Wrestling Entertainment star Randy Orton returned to the ring following a spinal fusion procedure.
  • Neal ElAttrache, MD, successfully performed knee surgery on Charles Omenihu, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Surgeon shuffles 

  • Patrick McKenzie, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist and the head physician for NFL team the Green Bay Packers, joined Green Bay, Wis.-based Prevea Health.
