Cape Fear Valley Health gets $14M for orthopedic residency program

Orthopedic

Fayetteville, N.C.-based Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, part of Cape Fear Valley Health, has launched a $14 million expansion project that will add more space for its growing orthopedic residency program, according to a March 6 report from the Greater Fayetteville Business Journal.

The funding comes from a state grant, according to the report.

Its orthopedic residency program is operated in partnership with the Womack Army Medical Center, also in Fayetteville.

It was created as a result of CFVH entering a relationship with the Department of Defense. The residency program officially kicked off in the summer of 2023 with four orthopedic residents. The goal is to continue growing the program every single year.

Plans for expansion include two additional rooms that will be dedicated to the orthopedic residency program, along with expanded pre-surgical and post-surgical areas and storage rooms for surgical supplies and equipment.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in late summer of 2024 following the completion of an ongoing $110 million expansion project.
