As orthopedic and spine specialists seek new job opportunities within the field, some return to former employers after tiring of private practice, relocating or coming out of retirement.

Here are four surgeons who have rejoined their former employers in the last four years:

1. Orthopedic surgeon Mark Kelley, MD, rejoined Laurium, Mich.-based Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital & Clinics after leaving to practice in North Carolina for a few years.

2. William Porter McRoberts, MD, an interventional spine and pain specialist, rejoined Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Holy Cross Medical Group after spending several years in private practice.

3. Joint replacement specialist Michael Maggitti, MD, rejoined Lumberton, N.C.-based Southeastern Orthopedics after working as a surgeon with the Department of Veterans Affairs VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

4. Orthopedic surgeon Gerald King, MD, returned to Clyde, N.C.-based Haywood Regional Medical Center after retiring months earlier.
