Orthopedic surgeon and Louisiana Tech Hall of Famer Billy Bundrick, MD, has died at the age of 85, according to a Dec. 13 report from the Shreveport Times.
Before getting into orthopedic surgery, Dr. Bundrick played college football for both Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech, serving as team co-captain for the latter.
Dr. Bundrick was also known for treating professional sports Hall of Famers, including the NFL's Terry Bradshaw and the NBA's Karl Malone.
"What a great doctor. My entire NFL career he was my doctor," Mr. Bradshaw told the Times. "He did my elbow, back, neck, you name it and he had a hand in getting me ready to play. He was such a great confidence booster, always telling me I would be ready to play, and he never charged me for a visit to his clinic, never."
Dr. Bundrick treated patients at the Bone and Joint Clinic in Shreveport-Bossier City, La. He was also a member of the Herodicus Society, an elite group of the original sports medicine surgeons.
