Church sold to orthopedic surgeon to be revived as community center

A Chicago church purchased by orthopedic surgeon and blues guitarist Daniel Ivankovich, MD, in 2022 will be revived as a community center and concert venue, Block Club Chicago reported Nov. 29.

The Preston Bradley Center, in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, was bought by the surgeon last year for $2 million. It will house the OnePatient Global Health initiative, a nonprofit co-founded by Dr. Ivankovich's wife Karla. The initiative aims to treat all patients regardless of pay.

In the last year, Dr. Ivankovich and his wife have poured more than $600,000 into renovations. The center is expected to have spaces for group activities and a music studio.

"We don’t need another midnight basketball league," Dr. Ivankovich told Block Club. "We need mentorship for kids to become doctors, to become nurses, to become advocates for healthcare in their communities."
