8 athletes having spine, orthopedic surgery

Becker's reported on eight athletes who had spine or orthopedic surgery since October 1.

1. Neal ElAttrache, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Manny Machado, a player for MLB's San Diego Padres.

2. Keith Meister, MD, performed Tommy John surgery on Sandy Alcantara, a pitcher for the Miami Marlins.

3. Dr. Keith Meister performed shoulder surgery on Brandon Woodruff, a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers.

4. Dr. Keith Meister, performed successful Tommy John surgery on Félix Bautista, a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles.

5. Chris Coetzee, MD, operated on Kirk Cousins to repair the Minnesota Vikings quarterback's torn achilles tendon.

6. Brian Cole, MD, operated on the left knee of David Bakhtiari, a player for the Green Bay Packers.

7. Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed shoulder surgery on Clayton Kershaw, who pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

8. Physicians at the University of Louisville (Ky.) Medical Center have performed spine surgery on University of Virginia running back Perris Jones.
