Moscow, Idaho-based Gritman Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of approval for total hip and total knee replacements, according to an Oct. 28 report from the Daily Fly.
To receive the certification, Gritman underwent an onsite review to measure safety and compliance that included interviews and clinical observations.
The certification standards cover all hip and knee surgeries performed by Gritman's orthopedic surgeon Marvin Kym, MD, and certified orthopedic nurse practitioner Sunshine Huffman, MSN, as well as orthopedic surgeons with practicing privileges at Gritman.
The certification is good for two years, at which time another review will take place.
