ATI Physical Therapy, Genie Health partner to create hybrid care model

Orthopedic

Rehabilitation provider ATI Physical Therapy and Genie Health, a digital physical therapy and healthcare services provider, have formed a strategic partnership with the goal of creating a hybrid care model melding virtual physical therapy with hands-on care.

The partnership will reach more than 900 ATI clinics in 24 states. It is expected to expand ATI's digital care capabilities — the combined platform will add computer vision-driven remote monitoring through Genie Health's MSK healthcare platform, the companies shared with Becker's July 27.

Reuben Gobezie, MD, CEO and co-founder of Genie Health, told Becker's, "When it comes to outcomes and value, driving value for all the patients, the providers, the therapists and of course, all the payers, everybody, we're super excited about bringing this technology that will really transform and outline healthcare delivery in the U.S. We believe that it's the tip of the spear."

The initial phase of the partnership will allow ATI to deploy a hybrid model of healthcare, delivering remote monitoring services in addition to its telehealth and in-office therapy network of practices.

"I am excited about leading in this space," Sharon Vitti, CEO of ATI Physical Therapy, told Becker's. "Other areas of healthcare have excelled here, but physical therapy and the musculoskeletal ecosystem is a little behind. I'm excited that with the partnership, we are going to be able to be disruptive and lead in the hybrid model in the whole musculoskeletal space. We'll use this as a platform to work with other partners, whether it be payers or other types of providers. This area is ripe for disruption and that's what excites me."
