Three orthopedic practice mergers were announced so far in 2023, and two of them are in Florida.
Here's what to know:
1. The Institute for Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine merged in April.
2. IOSSM and Orthopedic Center of Florida, both in Fort Myers, are part of Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company and joined the platform in September. Together the expanded practice has more than 28 providers across four locations in Lee and Collier counties.
3. Two other Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Atlantis Orthopedics and Port St. Lucie-based South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine announced plans to merge in May.
4. Together Atlantis Orthopedics and South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine will be one of the largest orthopedic groups in the state and brings together more than 50 providers.
5. Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic and Lafayette-based Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists plan to merge. Combined, they form the largest independent orthopedic group in the state.
6. Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic and Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists' merger is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2024.
