Excelsior Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine sees $100M in revenue following expansion

Practice Management

Orchard Park, N.Y.-based Excelsior Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine's expansions at its Buffalo (N.Y.) Surgery Center and Niagara Falls and Elma, N.Y., sites have boosted the system's revenue to over $100 million for the first time ever, according to a Jan. 9 report from Buffalo Business First

Thanks to the expansions, the group saw a 10% year-over-year increase. The $6 million dollar Buffalo Surgery Center project concluded at the end of 2023 and added an expanded gastroenterology suite and expansions for more orthopedic procedures.

Excelsior's surgery centers currently perform around 20,000 orthopedic cases per year, including 600 joint replacements. The system's new expansions will allow a 20% increase in patient volume.

With 20,553 patient visits a year, the company employs more than 600 employees, including 100 at the Buffalo Surgery Center.

Now, Excelsior is planning a 10,000-square-foot expansion at its Orchard Park, N.Y., location that is set to begin in 12 to 18 months.
