OrthoSouth taps 3 new spine surgeons

Memphis, Tenn.-based OrthoSouth has added three new spine surgeons to its team. 

Orthopedic spine surgeon John Eager, MD, is now treating patients in Memphis, Germantown and Bartlett, Tenn., according to an Aug. 28 press release. 

Dr. Eager specializes in degenerative spine surgery, spine trauma, tumors of the spine, adult spinal deformity, revision spine surgery and minimally invasive surgery techniques, as well as surgical management of bone and soft tissue sarcoma, skeletal and spinal metastatic disease, complex limb salvage and hip/knee arthroplasty.

Raul Cardenas, MD, a spine neurosurgeon, joins OrthoSouth with over a decade of experience in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, according to a Sept. 9 press release. He formerly held roles at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and Louisiana State University Health Science Center.

Jason Andrew Weaver, MD, is a spine surgeon who brings over 20 years of minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spine surgery to OrthoSouth. 

He specialized in spine tumor surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center with a focus in complex reconstructive surgery of the spine. He also focuses on outpatient surgery. 

Dr. Weaver formerly served the Memphis community through his previous affiliations with the Semmes-Murphey Clinic and the University of Tennessee. He also held the position of team neurosurgeon for a number of Memphis-based professional and collegiate sports teams.

Nurse practitioners Bonnie Sauls and Melanie Hays are also joining the team, working with Dr. Cardenas and Dr. Weaver, respectively.
