Jonathan Lewin, MD, of The Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Englewood, N.J., performed the state's first case with the PathKeeper spinal navigation system.
He used the system for an 80-year-old patient with severe lumbar stenosis, PathKeeper said in a May 3 news release. The system uses artificial intelligence and laser-optic 3D cameras for navigation and eliminates radiation exposure in the operating room.
PathKeeper has also been used in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maryland.
