Two spine surgeons share their New Years resolutions for 2024.

Question: What are your New Year's resolutions for your practice in 2024?

Brian Gantwerker, MD. The Craniospinal Center of Los Angeles: I plan on starting a no-frills podcast, talking about medicine, neurosurgery, spine surgery, work-life balance for physicians and my journey in medicine so far.  Also, my continued fitness goals are ever moving forward! I just finished my first series of 20-mile bike rides and hiked Bryce Canyon, Utah with my son and brother.  We plan on doing an annual active weekend trip. Each year, we plan on taking a big vacation with my wife and son and take time off to re-connect and SLOW DOWN.

Christian Zimmerman, MD. St. Alphonsus Medical Group and SAHS Neuroscience Institute (Boise, Idaho): Ushering in a New Year always congers loosely attached pledges of bodily and habitual changes that characteristically get reassigned or dismissed with prejudice. Frankly, our spinal practice is logistically quite sound, notwithstanding the issues of transition and distraction. Corporate medicine will most likely need some real soul searching and application of meaningful resolutions as their self-imposed grapnels of oversight propel many away and disgruntle all. Focusing on the coworker, overlooking the meaninglessness and continuing our community service remains the objective.
