Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine has opened a new Center for Pain and Spine Health in Bloomingdale, Ill., according to a Feb. 20 report from the Daily Herald.

The 12,000-square-foot center houses offices for pain medicine specialists, neurosurgeons, chiropractors, physical therapists and advanced practice nurses.

The building has two procedure rooms and a C-arm for intraoperative imaging. Procedures that are often done in hospital operating rooms can be performed safely in the new facility, according to the report.

"The majority of chronic pain can be attributed to the spine or nerve etiology. Using leading-edge tools and techniques, our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team can identify the generator of that pain and then manage or potentially stop it," Mehul Sekhadia, DO, a pain medicine specialist and medical director at the new clinic, told the Herald.
