7 things to know about Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine

Carmel, Ind.-based Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine has been serving patients in Indiana since 1970. Here are seven things to know about the practice, according to its website and Becker's coverage: 

1. Goodman Campbell has five free-standing practices in Indiana, one in Wisconsin and two partner practices at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and Ascension St. Vincent. 

2. Goodman was founded by Julius Goodman, MD, and John Russell, MD, and originally was named the Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group. 

3. The practice has had many firsts for the state of Indiana, including the first microscopic surgery for a herniated lumbar disc, the first use of a computerized surgical navigation system and the first transsphenoidal surgery for a pituitary tumor. 

4. Goodman founded the Think First program, a prevention program for brain and spine injuries in school-age children. 

5. Goodman physicians consult for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, Bloomington-based Indiana University and West Lafayette, Ind.-based Purdue University. 

6. In January, Goodman partnered with Terre Haute, Ind.-based Union Health. 

7. Goodman has 17 neurosurgeons on staff, and two pediatric neurosurgeons.
