Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Andrew Jea of Indiana University School of Medicine

Andrew H. Jea, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Indianapolis-based Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Jea serves as the chief of pediatric neurosurgery and a neurosurgery professor at IU School of Medicine. He specializes in pediatric spinal disorders. Dr. Jea received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, completed a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the Toronto, Canada-based Hospital for Sick Children and underwent spine fellowship training at the University of Miami.

He also holds a master's degree in health administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport with a special focus on quality improvement. He has published more than 185 peer-reviewed articles and more than 30 book chapters.

Dr. Jea is an active fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society. He is a member of the executive committees of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Section of Neurological Surgery and AANS/CNS Joint Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery. He has served as an editorial board member for AANS Neurosurgeon and has been selected to serve on the editorial boards of Pediatrics and Operative Neurosurgery.
