Ohio hospital adds Loop-X imaging robot

Robotics

Springfield (Ohio) Regional Medical Center added the Loop-X mobile imaging robot for spine and brain procedures.

The robot, from Brainlab, will be used with the company's Cirq arm at the hospital, according to a June 10 news release. Loop-X allows surgeons to perform precision intraoperative imaging of large bony structures while reducing radiation. Springfield Regional Medical Center is the first hospital in the Midwest to offer the technology.

"It doesn't replace our expertise or skill; it enhances them so that we can be more accurate and efficient in surgery, all with the goal of making the outcome for patients better," neurosurgeon Kamal Woods, MD, said in the release.
