Accelus posterior fixation system used in 1st robotic cases

Robotics

Accelus' LineSider spine system was used with the devicemaker's Remi robotic system for the first time in December.

Kevin Foley, MD, performed the first surgery with Remi and LineSider at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis in Tennessee, according to a March 10 news release. Kornelis Poelstra, MD, PhD, Pierce Nunley, MD, and Richard Hynes, MD, have also used the technology since then. Dr. Nunley performed the world's first four-level surgery with Remi and the LineSider system.

Remi provides robotic targeting and navigation for pedicle screw placement in lumbar spine fixation procedures. A study published in 2021 found the average procedure time using Remi was 36.6 minutes, compared with 55 minutes with another robotic system, according to the release.
