Latham-based OrthopedicsNY is laying off 34 employees, according to a WARN notice.

The layoffs are expected to happen May 1, according to the Feb. 1 notice. OrthopedicsNY has 582 employees total. The layoffs won't affect patient-facing roles, the practice's CEO said in a statement shared with Becker's Feb. 6.

The layoffs were initiated "due to an operational efficiency restructuring within our business office," CEO Dave Fitzgerald said in the statement.

"This recent change only helps reinforce our dedication to restoring function and enhancing the quality of life of our patients through the delivery of clinical excellence, exceptional service and unwavering compassion. All affected personnel have been notified and will be granted severance packages based on their position and years of services."
