Rothman Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Bensalem, Pa., was ranked as one of the cleanest by CMS' Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital, also in Bensalem, was ranked as the best out of all hospitals in the Philadelphia region in the patient survey, according to an email shared with Becker's. The surgery center was ranked as "always" clean about 90% of the time, a spokesperson for Rothman said.
CMS' Hospital CAHPS survey measures patient-reported data on experiences. More than 4,000 hospitals participate, and more than 3 million patients complete the survey each year.
"Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of patient care," Alex Vaccaro, MD, PhD, president of Philadelphia-based Rothman, said in a statement to Becker's. "Importantly, this includes maintaining clean environments for both patients and their families. While every member of our staff contributes to this effort, our nurses and environmental services (EVS) teams are truly the foundation of this framework. Nursing staff are primary caregivers, assisting with room cleanliness and ensuring that patients are comfortable, happy and safe. Our EVS teams are dedicated to keeping rooms and bathrooms clean, with daily inspections to ensure that trash is removed, linens are changed, and surfaces are scrubbed spotless with germicidal cleaners. Furthermore, EVS teams are responsive to cleaning requests and leave contact cards to quickly address any concerns."
