A randomized controlled trial found Smith+Nephew's Regeneten bioinductive implant is effective at preventing retearing after a rotator cuff repair.
The study examined 29 patients who received the Regeneten implant and 28 patients who did not after a rotator cuff repair, according to a Sept. 14 company news release. Retear rates for those in the implant group was 3.5 percent at the 12-month follow-up and 25 percent in the group that did not have the Regeneten implant.
There were no differences in postoperative complications between the groups, according to the study.
