The Steadman Philippon Research Institute's fourth annual Vail Scientific Summit is Aug. 19-21 in Vail, Colo., and it will focus on the clinical advances made in the study of biologics and cell therapy.
Here are four things to know:
1. This year's event is titled "Regenerative and Translational Medicine: A Focus on Human and Clinical Applications."
2. The institute's chief scientific officer, Johnny Huard, PhD, will open the summit with James Kirkland, MD, PhD, and Laura Niedernhofer, MD, PhD, with "Aging 101: Basic Answers to Universal Questions."
3. Dr. Kirkland is the director of the Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and Dr. Niedernhofer is the director of the Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
4. Many of the orthopedic surgery and biologic sessions will be led by doctors from around the country, including some of The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute's surgeons and scientists: Scott Tashman, PhD, Chelsea Bahney, PhD, and Marc Philippon, MD, among others.
