D. Scott Kreiner, MD, is the new president of the North American Spine Society.

He is the director of interventional spine and sports medicine at Barrow Brain & Spine in Phoenix. Dr. Kreiner's practice focuses on musculoskeletal medicine and interventional spine, NASS said in a Sept. 24 news release.

Dr. Kreiner has served in multiple leadership positions at NASS including chair of Evidence-based Guideline Development Committee, co-chair of the Coverage Committee and Director of the Evidence Analysis and Research Council.

"I am very excited to serve as the NASS president," Dr. Kreiner said in the release. "Over the last 20-plus years, I have gained a great deal of insight on spine care and leadership through my interactions with spine surgeons, nonsurgeons and staff who work with this organization. One of my goals is to try and facilitate a collaborative relationship between all the specialties for the betterment of spine care. None of us can do it alone."

Dr. Kreiner earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and he completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
