Eric Leuthardt, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Dr. Leuthardt is a neurosurgery and biomedical engineering professor and director of the Center for Innovation in Neuroscience and Technology and the Brain Laser Center at the medical school. His surgical interests include neuro-oncology, brain tumors requiring motor and speech mapping, surgical treatment of epilepsy, Gamma Knife and spine surgery.
Dr. Leuthardt received his medical degree from the Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and underwent spine and epilepsy fellowship training at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His research centers around neuroprosthetics and brain mapping.
He serves on the board of directors for Neurolutions, a startup that creates neuroprosthetics for spinal cord injury and stroke patients, and CMO for GeneralSensing, a startup focused on technology to improve hand hygiene in hospitals. Dr. Leuthardt is also the author of the science fiction novel RedDevil 4.
