University of Miami joins Neuralink study for spinal cord injury patients

The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami (Fla.) Miller School of Medicine is the second U.S. site to join Neuralink's PRIME study, according to a Jan. 27 news release.

The investigational medical device clinical trial is assessing the safety and functionality of Neuralink's N1 implant and Neuralink's N1 robot. The N1 implant is designed to help patients with paralysis control external devices with their thoughts.

The University of Miami's research team includes Jonathan Jagid, MD;  Allan Levi, MD, PhD; Michael Ivan, MD, and Seth Tigchelaar, MD, PhD.
