Medical technology company Stryker experienced a data breach, according to an article from law firm Console and Associates published by JD Supra on Dec. 9.
Here are six things to know:
1. Stryker filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Texas after the company discovered that an unauthorized party gained access to its computer network.
2. The unauthorized party was able to access consumers' information, including their names, medical information and dates of birth.
3. On June 10, Stryker noticed suspicious activity on its network, prompting the company to notify law enforcement, contain the incident and launch an investigation.
4. The investigation found that between May 14 and June 10, the unauthorized party obtained data from Stryker's network.
5. After completing its investigation, Stryker sent out data breach notification letters to individuals whose information had been affected by the incident.
6. Stryker also filed a notice with the Attorney General of Vermont concerning what appears to be the same situation.
Stryker did not immediately respond to Becker's request for comment.
