Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute has added Smith + Nephew's CORI surgical robot at its Aliso Viejo, Calif., surgery center, according to a June 27 press release sent to Becker's.
CORI is a robotic-assisted joint replacement surgical system that has more than a decade of real-time application in knee procedures, improving outcomes for patients.
The robot uses patient-specific, real-time alignment that builds a 3D model of the patient's knee. The robot then allows exact duplication of the computer creation, and the implant goes in place within one millimeter of accuracy, according to the release.
With the addition of the new robot, Hoag now has nine orthopedic surgical robots within its system.
