12+ places adding spine, orthopedic robots in Q3

Becker's reported on multiple hospitals, health systems and ASCs adding spine and orthopedic robots during the third quarter.

1. Naples, Fla.-based Lee Health has added Zimmer Biomet's Rosa robot at Cape Coral (Fla.) Hospital and Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.

2. Frankfort (Ky.) Regional Medical Center completed its first total hip replacement using Zimmer Biomet's Rosa Hip System

3. Atlanta-based USPI affiliate Resurgens Surgical Center added Stryker's Mako SmartRobotics system to its practice to assist with joint replacements

4. NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst acquired the Stryker Mako SmartRobotics system, which allows the hospital to offer its patients a minimally invasive option for hip and knee replacements.

5. Columbus (Ind.) Specialty Surgery Center performed the region's first outpatient robotic joint replacement surgery

6. Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., added an orthopedic surgical robot to its team, expanding its robotic surgery program

7. Salem, Va.-based LewisGale Medical Center's orthopedic surgeon Phillip Patterson, MD, performed the region's first robotic total knee replacement

8. Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute added two total joint replacement robots at its ASCs

9. HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami became one of the first in the state to offer Stryker Mako robotic-arm assisted total hip replacements.

10. Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill (N.J.) installed Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS robot for spine surgery

11. The Atlantic General Hospital Orthopedic Surgery unit in Berlin, Md. added a Mako robot

12. Robotic surgical assistant knee system Rosa made its debut at Fargo, N.D.-based Essentia Health.
