The Atlantic General Hospital Orthopedic Surgery unit in Berlin, Md., is set to receive a Stryker Mako robotic arm in mid September, according to a Sept. 8 report from OC Today.

The hospital purchased the high end robot to improve orthopedic surgery procedures for patients in the region.

Sean Hooker, MD, is certified to use the arm and will lead the surgical team using the new technology.

"I think it"s an excellent tool and it certainly is helpful for us to have that available and I think in that regard makes us a place where we have more resources here to accommodate all the different patients that we have in our community with hip and knee ailments requiring these replacements," Chris Farrell, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at the practice said.
